Siddal ‘B’ won the Halifax League’s 4 Person competition, sponsored by Total Active at King Cross on Sunday, defeating Stainland ‘B’ by 79-55 in the final.

They won their semi-final, against Clayton Park by 77-6, thanks to single figure victories by Mark Regan, who converted an early 11-0 lead into a 21-8 win against C. Wilson and Trevor Benn, who led Jack Summers by 12-1 and went on to win by 21-7.

Stainland reached the final with a narrow 74-71 victory over Ripponden. Ripponden won three of the four games, but Lorraine Hirst’s 21-1 against Paul Turner clinched the game for Stainland.

In the final, Siddal were comfortable winners in three of four matches. Trevor Benn and Neil Tordoff both won by 21-9 against Lorraine Hirst and Peter Hopkinson respectively while Mark Regan was a 21-10 winner against Robert Senior. Robert Dickenson was Stainland’s only winner, by 21-13 against Alan Forrest.

The final rounds of the Sowerby Bridge Association’s 4-Person, sponsored by Linda Stewart were held at Elland C.A.& B.C. with Clayton ‘A’ lifting the trophy with an 80-58 victory over Ripponden ‘A’.

Clayton narrowly won their semi-final against Mytholmroyd ‘A’ by 77-74. Mytholmroyd won three of the four games but Peter Oliver’s 21-7win against Shaun Frewin swung the outcome in Clayton’s favour.

Ripponden faced Mytholmroyd ‘B’ in their semi-final and won three of the four games to win to reach the final with an 85-72 victory.

In the final Clayton were winners in three of the four matches, Steve Wilkinson leading the way with his 21-6 result against Tom Robertshaw Not far behind was Peter Oliver with his 21-8 against Andrew Gee. Miles Summers claimed their third game, by 21-16 against Simon Robinson while Nick Oddy was Ripponden’s sole winner by 21-12 against Tom Harney.
