The 2024 season has concluded, The AGM is at Elland WMC Tuesday 12th November 7pm

The Hebden Royd BA originated back in 1931, when a meeting of 7 clubs (Mytholmroyd WM) Mytholmroyd BA, Heptonstall, Oldtown,Savile,Hebden Bridge & Trades Club took place at Old Town BC on Monday 23rd March.

Representatives from these 7 clubs resolved to form an association to promote a league and competitions. Mytholmroyd BC became the first league champions. Interesting points from that inaugural season……ten shillings per club affiliation fee.

An individual handicap competition be promoted (J H Sutcliffe comp.) which attracted an entry of 171---6 qualifying rounds, and a 16 man final, entry fee was one shilling, and eventual winner and runner up received prizes to the value of £3-0-0, and £1-10-0 respectively. The finals were held at Old Town and there was an admission fee of 6d and programs were available at 2d. Of those 7 original clubs, Mytholmroyd WM and Hebden Bridge (Midgehole) are no longer in existence, although the greens are still there.

Trades club was situated in the small park behind the Hebden Bridge Post Office, green no longer there, probably replaced with Hebden Royd Park green….now along with Mytholmroyd WM & Hebden Bridge gone but not forgotten.

Today’s Hebden Association has 22 clubs, 3 separate leagues, and stretches into the Ryburn valley, across The Cockhill Moor and into the Halifax area.
