John Bloomer of Brighouse sports won the Halifax Wilkinson Sword sponsored by Rastrick bowling club at Rastrick on Sunday. In the final John outclassed his opponent Danny fountain 21.4. Danny started with a single and a pair to go 3.0 up but then Danny went off the boil and John amassed a 20 break to go 20.3 up and ended the game to a 21.4 win.Wilk Sword The real drama of the day was in both semi-finals, with Danny 20.10 behind to Mark Regan, but quality leading by Danny produced a 11 break to win the game. John on other hand had a topsy turvy game with Gareth Coates. John was 20.17 up and led a front touched, Coates struck and missed, a very short blocker by John wasn’t enough as Coates struck and hit the jack off, next end Coates got a pair, 20.19 to John, Coates went into a corner and bowled a toucher, John’s first wood was a yard short but slightly inside the road, Coates played a foot bowl to side 2 to Coates for game John played his last bowl it was off the road, then suddenly it hit his yard short bowl and came in off  and hit the jack to claim victory. We had a total of 23 bowlers on the day, down because of Halifax Town at Wembley, but we did attract 2 junior bowlers one at 11 and one at 12. Great to see. A great effort was made by The Rastrick team in keeping all bowlers and visitors with food & drink all day.
