It sounds like Natalie and Gareth Swain had an impressive performance at the George Parkin pairs bowling competition at Allan Park. With 23 pairs participating, the Swains managed to stand out, particularly Natalie, who despite being relatively new to leagues and competitions, outshone even first division bowlers.
Their journey to victory included several notable games. Their match against Bob Coates and Amy Barron, which they won 15.4, was highlighted as their best game of the day. Despite the score, it seems all four bowlers played exceptionally well. Their second game against Julien Dawson and Aaron Bottomley was a close one, but the Swains managed to turn a 9.7 deficit into a 15.9 victory.
In the semi-finals, they maintained control throughout their 15.8 win over Glenn Normanton and Adam Schofield. The final against the Siddal pair of Darren Barney Hickey and Robert Holmes was a long game. After 13 ends, the Swains led 9.4. A score of 3 by the Siddal pair seemed to kickstart the Swains, who followed up with a 2 and then finished with a high-quality 4 winning bowls.
It’s unfortunate that sponsor Ray Davis couldn’t be there, but it’s great to hear that Allan Park provided fantastic catering and support throughout the day. Congratulations to the Swains on their victory! 🎉
