John and David Hamer of West End won the Sowerby Bridge Mens Pairs at Akroydon Victoria on Sunday. They defeated Simon Robinson and Tom Robertshaw of Ripponden by 15-10 in the final of the event sponsored byRay Davis.

In their semi-final, the Hamers faced homesters Julian Dawson and Jack Walton and were ahead by 8-1 before the Akroydon Victoria duo fought back to within a single chalk at 7-8. Dawson and Walton went on to take the lead by 10-9 but the Hamers recovered with a break of five to reach all-but and went on to win by 15-11.

In their semi-final, Robinson and Robertshaw found themselves 6-0 behind after three ends against Martin Greenwood and Brendan Malone of Siddal. The Siddal pair were still ahead by 9-4 but their opponents produced a break of five to draw level and remained in control to win by 15-11.

In the final, the Ripponden pair were 3-0 ahead but the Hamers recovered to level the scores at 4-4. Robertshaw and Robinson again went ahead to lead by 9-4 . That gap ha been reduced to two points at 10-8 before the Hamers seized control to run out with two threes and a single to claim the George Parkin Trophy by 15-20.
